Same ghani. Gentler seed.
Everything Parampara presses goes through the same wooden ghani, turning slowly, the way we've done it since 1999. What changes is the seed — and sunflower is the gentlest of them.
Where our mustard oil arrives with a bite and our black sesame with a deep nuttiness, sunflower gives a clean, light, almost quiet oil. That's not a lesser product; it's a different job. Some dishes need an oil that steps forward. Plenty of others need one that gets out of the way.
Why cold-pressed sunflower is different from the sunflower oil you know
Refined sunflower oil is one of the most heavily processed oils in the Indian market — solvent-extracted, bleached, deodorised, and stripped of colour and aroma until nothing is left but fat. It's cheap and it's everywhere.
Ours is the same seed, handled the opposite way. Slow mechanical pressing, no solvent, no refining stage. You get an oil with a faint natural colour and a trace of the seed's own character, and you know precisely what's in the bottle, because there is only one thing in it.
What's in the bottle
Ingredient: Organic Sunflower Seeds. That's the complete list.
- Cold pressed / wood pressed in a traditional kachi ghani
- No chemical solvent extraction — no hexane at any stage
- No preservatives
- Certified organic by IMO Control; carries the Jaivik Bharat mark
- Only 1.5 g saturated fat per 15 ml serving
- Naturally light in colour — pale because of the seed, not because of a refinery
How to use it
Serving suggestion, as printed on the pack: use for cooking and can be consumed raw.
|
| Salad dressings & vinaigrettes | Its neutrality is the whole point here — it carries herbs and vinegar without arguing |
| Homemade mayonnaise & aioli | The classic emulsifying oil; a strong-flavoured oil ruins it |
| Everyday sabzi & light sautéing | When you want the masala to lead |
| Cakes, muffins & bakes | A clean fat that leaves no aftertaste in sweet baking |
| Marinades | Coats without adding flavour of its own |
| Raw finishing & dips | Hummus, chutneys, drizzles |
| Cooking for children & elderly | The mildest option in our range |
A note on heat — please read this one. Cold-pressed, unrefined sunflower oil behaves quite differently from the refined sunflower oil most Indian kitchens are used to. It has a notably lower smoke point, so it is at its best in low and medium heat cooking, in baking, and used raw. For deep frying and sustained high-heat work, reach for our groundnut or mustard oil instead — that's what they're built for.
